I’m lucky enough to no longer have to work a 9 – 5 job, or have to work any job, to be honest! I am thankful for every day I am no longer part of the rat race and I do still remember exactly what it was like to have to work for someone else and how much I hated the long hours, late nights and having to manage my annual leave to fit in with childcare and family commitments.
I’m pretty open and honest with all my friends and family about how much I hated the full-time job and I’m always more than happy to share my story with them. The most common question I’m always asked is what’s the easiest way to make money online?
Before we get into the details it’s important to take a quick reality check. Yes, I do earn more now monthly than I did when I was working full time, but that didn’t just happen overnight.
It took a lot of trial and error. Some of the things I tried that made money, I just didn’t like! No point swapping one soul-destroying job for something equally horrible!
I found that setting some targets of what I wanted to earn really helped. Start with some low targets (my first target was to be able to pay for my domain name) and set some higher ones (my second target was to afford my website which thankfully isn’t that expensive thanks to SiteGround) Its always fun to set a higher target to strive for whilst also remembering that it may take a good while to get there.
Working hard or hardly working
How hard do you want to work? How much effort do you want to put into it? Knowing your expectations before starting out can really save a lot of time later on.
Some people don’t mind being chained to their computer whilst others hit their electronic limit at a few hours (like me!)
With the basics covered now onto the fun bit – Choosing the easiest way for you.
This is by far the easiest and quickest way to make money online in the UK! It’s completely legal, risk-free, tax-free, and is open to anyone over 18 in the UK.
I’m currently writing my follow along How to matched betting series but if you can’t wait to get started then equip yourself with the basics.
Matched Betting works by extracting money from the free bet offers that bookmakers regularly promote to encourage new customers to join. Using some of your own money to cover both sides of the bets (Liverpool to win at the bookmakers and Liverpool to lose at the exchange) and some free matched betting software you get awarded the free bet. Next using Matched Betting software you convert the free bet into cash.
Pros of Matched Betting is definitely the speed in which you can make money. You could place a bet on a sporting event tonight and see the profits tomorrow morning – it really is that quick. There are tonnes of free guides out there to guide you through and OddsMonkey even has a walkthrough guiding you through your first few bets.
Cons are it can take a while to get into the swing of things plus at the beginning, it can be frustrating to deal with small amounts until you get better at it and advance onto the bigger offers.
Start a website
Starting a website is extremely easy and can be done in under 20mins thanks to SiteGround. They can also be fairly profitable. I’m sure you’ve noticed all the websites popping up that are full to the brim of ads!
I’m a keen cook now with all my extra free time and I’m also searching for new and exciting recipes to share with my children. Often I’m unable to even get to the recipe due to all the pop-ups and videos that come up.
It doesn’t have to be like that though. A few discreet ad banners can be a great way of making money off your website whilst also being relevant to what your writing about. You could also sell advertising space on your website to companies that are relevant to your website that pays more than using an ad banner service.
Sponsored posts are also big money if you have a website. Getting paid to write an article can be a really easy way to make money and get content for your site as long as it’s relevant. The article would usually contain some promotional links sent to you by the company designed to get your readers on to their website.
Write and publish a book
If you have a way with words and enjoy writing then writing and publishing your own book is an easy way for you to make money. It’s fairly passive too once you have written the book.
Its easier than you think and doesnt need to be anything too massive and doesnt require any soul searching! The thing to remember about wiritng your own book is to keep it non fiction and treat it like a research project.
Ensure you add lots of value and spell/grammar check it before you publish. Amazon Kindle publishing makes it super easy to publish your own book and once its uploaded its up there forever. A nice easy way of making a passive incoime if you ask me!
Book covers can be tricky especially if you’re not artistically gifted so best to outsource that. Getting your own customised book cover doesn’t actually cost that much and won’t eat into your profits.
Writing the book takes around 20 – 30 hours and the best part is that once it’s published, it can generate a passive income for years. If you prefer a step by step guide to writing and publishing then check out this guide that teaches you how to do it in just 21 days! (read it free here)
Sell your skills
Are you really good at graphic design? How about excel, typing or any other skill that we all think everyone can do until we ask someone else? Fiverr is a great way of selling your skills online and from the comfort of your own home.
I know someone who makes a killing on Fiverr and they work on it in the office whilst getting paid to do their day job!
The default price to charge is $5 (hence the name) but you can add in extras to bring the price up. Whilst earning $5 a gig (Fiverr’s name for a task) isn’t particularly groundbreaking, it does all add up and is fairly easy especially if its something your good at.
Go for a walk
Yes, it’s true, you can now get paid for going for a walk! Whilst this one isn’t strictly online-only, it is worth a mention.
If you’re trying to up your steps or rushing around a busy workplace then you might as well get paid for it!
Meet Win Walk – the app that pays you for your steps. There is no GPS tracker so steps taken inside definitely count. There are also games to play, videos to watch and surveys to fill in to increase your amount of coins you earn daily.
Over to you
There plenty of answers to our initial question of what’s the easiest way to make online, it all just depends on what you want to do with your extra time. I am a firm believer that having your expectations set out before you begin helps avoid disappointment. Have you tried any of these ideas? I’d love to hear about them so comment below!
